Buckland Select Board renewed its veterans services pact and backed a modest FRCOG budget hike.
Select Board · Meeting of January 27, 2026
Buckland Select Board renewed its veterans services pact and backed a modest FRCOG budget hike. Members voted unanimously to continue the town's membership in the Upper Pioneer Valley Veterans Services District for two more years and authorized a representative to support FRCOG's fiscal 2027 budget, which raises Buckland's assessment by $1,698 to $41,586. Town Administrator Pamela Guyette reported MassDOT found "pretty serious structural deficiencies" in the closed Iron Bridge sidewalk's stringers and is developing repair plans for possible completion by spring.
Guyette also said the transfer station had to close unexpectedly during a recent cold snap and urged residents to sign up for the Code Red alert system. Officials warned the coming fiscal year will be "very, very tight" as regional assessments and a technical school construction project loom.
