Buckland's library board warns the town can't afford a benefited librarian after its third departure in five years. Treasurer Morris Taft told the Select Board the position's $29,989 annual insurance cost went unfunded for fiscal 2026, leaving Buckland paying its librarian $25.18 an hour, the lowest in Franklin County, while the board seeks $25 to $29. "This is our third librarian in five or six years," Taft said, warning "you can't live on $23,000 a year." The board separately voted unanimously to authorize signing documents for a $100,000 MVP 2.0 flood-resilience grant for the Clesson Brook watershed, and to send a letter of support for a renewed MVP action grant after an earlier bid was denied.
Electric aggregation customers will see bills rise about $6.96 a month starting in March under a new regional DAISI charge.
