Buckland Select Board shortens transfer station and early voting hours, signs climate planning contract. The board unanimously approved six fiscal 2026 budget transfers, including $4,955 for added PFAS testing at the closed landfill and $4,700 for a solid waste hauling overage. New transfer station hours run 7 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
Tuesdays and Saturdays, cut from 3 p.m., after staff said late arrivals were preventing on-time closing: "it'll just be kind of a retraining... of people just to try to be mindful." The board approved a reduced early voting schedule for the September primary and November election proposed by the town clerk. Members also approved a planning contract with Dodson & Flinker for the town's Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness 2.0 climate grant, opening five $1,800-stipend community liaison seats through an August 14 deadline. A Special Town Meeting is set for July 21 to vote on Mohawk Trail and Franklin Tech school assessments and a hydro PILOT tax authorization.
